I honestly don't know too much about Mrs. Hamer, but I can say that when it's all said and done, I hope to leave a student-centered legacy halfway as large as she did.

The passing of Mrs. Hamer is cause for much sadness. It is apparent from the 140 entries left in her memory book that she left an indelible impression on those she attended school with, ministered to and led while a principal at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary which is situated just minutes away from the CAU campus. That being said, she will continue to live on through the legacy she has left to those she cared for both professionally and personally.

Yea, I also noticed the 140 entries in her memory book. That's powerful. She definitely had to be a transformational leader! Hey, do you teach at the AYA Academy? There's a community event coming up and I want to bring some of the young bros I mentor to come down there and help out.

I never had the opportunity to meet Ms. Hamer, but I notice that there are one hundred forty-one entries in her guest book and speak volumes for her. Since I didn’t know her personally a poem would convey my message.

One hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of car Ms. Hamer drove, what kind of house she lived in, how much money was in her bank account nor what her clothes looked like. But the world is a better place because she touched the life of a child.
