How can leaders respond to political issues?

How does this sardonic speech demonstrate the evidence of ELCC Standard 6 and why was it done?

As we know ELCC standard 6 states that a leader should be able to promote the success of all by understanding, responding to, and influencing the larger political, social, economic, legal and cultural context. In Obama’s sardonic speech, he let every person mentioned really have it for a lack of words. I love the way he put everyone who had ever challenged or questioned his presidency on front street, which highlighted how stupid their accusations and thinking process really is. Any person who can stand in front of an audience filled with political leaders, enemies, etc. and give a speech that kept the audience engaged by mixing in serious items along with highlighting the ridicules things that have plagued him personally is a great man. President Obama did this speech in my opinion to let everyone know that he is not going anywhere and all the scandalous things being said around him really below him and instead of attacking back with rage, he decided to make light of it and flip it back on those who started it . Looking in the audience at some of the people who Obama actually mentioned and seeing their faces and how humiliated they were really let us you know how they felt inside and how the public now views the comments being made. A true leader is someone who can take something so negative and turn it around to make a point to the larger audience. This speech really did it for me and shows me that you don’t always have to respond to those who challenge you in a negative way, in fact never give them satisfaction of knowing your pissed or upset; however when you get the opportunity in a diplomatic way just put them in their place and walk away with a smile.
